Editorial Cartoons, printed in the University Daily Kansan, April 7th and 8th, 2008

These two comics were special to me. They ran on the day and the day following the University of Kansas’s defeat of Memphis in the NCAA Championship. The game will forever live as a classic meeting in collegiate sports. These strips had to be drawn several days prior to the match, so I was taking a gamble, not only of looking like an idiot by predicting the outcome incorrectly, but also as a jinx.

The first of these ran on the day of the game. I really took a leap of faith with that one. The second, which was much safer because it could stand alone on any date really, is much more special to me. The second ran on the day following the game. That paper is a collector’s item for KU fans. I know many who have it framed in their living rooms. And there I am. Immortalized in print, in arguably the most popular piece of KU memorabilia in the last century.
